About West Liberty Child Development Center
As a mission of West Liberty United Methodist Church, we provide opportunities for each child, as a child of God, to learn loving and courteous ways to relate to peers, family and community. We are licensed to provide care for children 6 weeks old through school age. Our childcare facility is open year round from 6:30am-6:00pm.
At West Liberty Child Development Center, we provide high quality childcare in a loving, nurturing environment.
Our infant/toddler teachers are intentional about what they do each day in their work with children and families. They have been trained in child development and how children birth-2 years learn. By acquiring a knowledge of each child's individual needs, strengths and interests they are able to individualize learning experiences. A trusting relationship is developed which enables young children to see themselves as separate, capable human beings.
Our two year old program promotes key readiness skills in the areas of social and emotional development, language development and motor development. A typical day includes literature, finger plays, songs, dramatic play, and exploration.
We strive to allign our Preschool Program with the #1 National Education Goal. Three and Four year old children are prepared to enter elementary school ready to learn. They are provided with opportunities to enhance their skills, knowledge, and abilities by participating in activities that are sensitive to community values, recognize individual differences, reinforce and extend their strengths, and assist them in overcoming their difficulties.
For families who need early morning and/or after school care we are licensed to care for children up to 15 years old. We are in the 7th District Elementary School and Hereford Middle School zone. Bus transportation to and from school is provided by Baltimore County. School Age children are welcome to attend on many days that schools are closed. An afternoon snack, some homework assistance and free play are offered. There is a large inside play area for times weather does not permit the children to go outside.
Weekly themes are explored over the summer break. Each week includes a field trip or a special program at the center. Some other activities include our annual St. Jude's Trike A Thon, tie dying, and frequent water and bike days. Breakfast and an afternoon snack are provided.
